Information Sharing: Using low- and no-cost solutions for sharing your biggest files

Smaller, Faster 2011

I love Twitter!  It makes information travel fast, like this little tidbit from the AEC Dev Days currently underway out East being attended by @LouisaHolland and @Civil3dReminders.

I love the 64bit version of Civil 3d, but the developers and team, including the venerable Mr. Peter Funk, squeezed performance out of AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 to get things like this:

Thought I might share that little tidbit.

One of these days we need to have a weekly #C3dChat like the architects have with #AIAChat.

Import Layer Filter

Just a note for those who use Layer Filters to help organize layers.  AutoCAD Civil 3d doesn’t automatically load the file, but it is easy to fix.

Autodesk Storm and Sanitary gets friendly! Civil 3d Object Enabler!

Ah!  Thank you Nick for the discussion post indicated that the AutoCAD Civil 3d Object Enabler (OE)  is now live.   The Civil 3d Object Enabler comes in two flavors  – 32 bit and 64 bit!  Autodesk Storm and Sanitary is a 32 bit program – so drink the 32 bit version!  You need it.

Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Stand-alone 2011 is Live!

Today, rather early this morning Autodesk released Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis to subscription customers of AutoCAD Civil 3d and Map 3d users.  The addition of the the former BOSS StormNET makes a wonderful addition to the Autodesk product line.  I look forward to the remaining BOSS programs purchased by Autodesk being folded into the Autodesk product line.

Hydraflow Cost Reports

A number of years ago I scolded our estimator while he was counting manholes and summing the total length of pipes based on the diameter of the pipe shown paper plots for a complex subdivision.  At the time, I had just completed the hydrology and hydraulic calculations using an earlier version of Hydraflow Storm Sewer.
